FAQs
We don’t offer a dedicated luggage storage room, but every bed has an individual locker for your valuables. You’ll need a padlock to use it — if you don’t have one, you can purchase one at reception.
Guests receive clean bed linen and a neatly made bed at check-in. Towels are complimentary for private rooms, while guests staying in shared dorm can easily rent them from reception.
You can borrow hairdryers and irons free of charge at reception by leaving a valid ID as a deposit. We also sell travel adaptors for Irish plugs, so your devices stay powered up during your trip. Reception also sells essentials like padlocks, toiletries, earplugs and other handy travel items.
Private parking is available but must be reserved ahead of time (limited availability). Payment is due at check-in and can be made by card or in cash. In case of self-check-in, payment is taken in advance via safe link.
Yes, there’s a designated smoking area (balcony on the third floor). Smoking or vaping inside the building is strictly prohibited and subject to a €250 fine.
Yes, Garden Lane Backpackers has a spacious, fully equipped kitchen for guest use, open daily except during cleaning times. The laundry room operates also, with washing and drying tokens sold at reception alongside washing tablets.
We offer a complimentary continental breakfast every morning between 8 AM and 10:30 AM, with a simple yet tasty spread of breads, cereals, fruit, jams, butter, coffee, milk and juice.
Guests must be at least 18 years old to stay. Those aged 8–17 may stay only in private rooms when accompanied by an adult and cannot be accommodated in shared dormitories. Children under 8 years old are not accepted.
Check-in starts from 3 PM, with early check-in possible for a fee and subject to availability. Opening time varies, please, contact our front desk here for further information. Late arrivals must be informed in advance. Check-out is by 11 AM, but you may remain in the common areas until 3 PM. Late check-out incurs an automatic €20 surcharge per person.
For bookings made directly through our website, you can cancel or modify your reservation using the confirmation email received at booking. Cancellations or changes must be made at least 2 days before your check-in date to be eligible for a refund. If you cancel less than 2 days before check-in or if you do not show up, no refund will be issued. Non-refundable rates cannot be refunded.
If you booked through a third-party site (e.g. Booking.com, Hostelworld, etc), please manage your reservation through their platform in line with their policies. We strongly recommend reviewing the cancellation terms before booking to avoid disappointment. If you have any issues or have further questions, please contact our front desk for assistance.
We require a security deposit at check-in — €30 per person for standard bookings and €50 for walk-ins, payable by card only. Groups of 4 or more people must make one group payment. The deposit is returned at check-out once the room or bed has been inspected and no damage is found.
You can take the Dublin Express 782 coach from outside Terminal 2, which stops at Dublin Usher’s Quay (stop 1445) or Merchant’s Quay (stop 1444), 10-minute walk from our place. The estimated fare for the coach is approximately €10. Alternatively, you can take Dublin Bus (public transport) by catching bus N. 16 or N. 41 from Dublin Airport. Get off at Dublin City Centre, then transfer to bus N. 13, 73, G1, or G2, which will drop you just a 5-minute walk from the hostel. Dublin bus fare is around €2.60 payable in coins or ticket (Leap Card). The hostel is located a 15-minute walk from the Temple Bar area. Use Eircode D08 VY00 to find us on Google Maps.
