Our hostel is designed to suit a wide range of group types, from school trips and educational visits to sports teams, corporate stays and leisure groups. We focus on keeping the booking process simple while offering a comfortable stay with useful amenities throughout your visit.

We offer flexible room options for groups of all sizes. Our shared dormitories are available in 4, 6 and 8-bed layouts, making them a great choice for smaller or medium-sized groups who want to stay together.

Private rooms are also available for group leaders, tutors or guests who prefer extra privacy. All of our rooms feature bunk beds and shared bathrooms are available on all floors. If you have specific rooming requirements, we will always do our best to accommodate them subject to availability.

Terms & Conditions

All group stays are subject to our terms and conditions, including ID requirements, house rules and payment terms.

Check-In & Arrival

What documents are required upon arrival?

All guests must present a valid photo ID at check-in.

  • Non-EU citizens must provide a valid passport.

  • EU citizens must provide valid ID, Driver License or passport.

Identification documents will be scanned and securely stored as part of the check-in process.

  • Security deposit is also required upon check-in.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Our reception is open from 8 AM to 10 PM, but your group is welcome to arrive at any time as self-check-in can be arranged. Check-in begins at 3 PM.

If you arrive before check-in time, you are welcome to use the hostel facilities.

Check-out is by 11 AM, but you may remain in the common areas until 3 PM. Late check-out incurs an automatic €20 surcharge per person.

Can we arrange an early check-in or late check-out?

Yes. These requests are subject to availability and may incur additional charges.

Can you store luggage before check-in or after check-out?

We do not have luggage storage, but you can leave the luggage at reception if your group is arriving before check-in time.

Booking, Cancellation & Availability

How can I make a group booking?

You can contact us directly at groups@canbe.ie or submit an enquiry through our website. To provide you with a tailored quotation, we will need your travel dates, the number of guests, the age range of the group and any specific requirements you may have. Our team will then send you a personalised quotation with the best available rate.

Do you accept kids? Do minors require adult supervision?

Yes. We do accept minors, but guests between 8-17 years old must be accompanied by responsible adults and cannot share room with other parties.

For safeguarding purposes, groups of minors must be accommodated separately by gender. Please, always inform us and consider this while making your booking request.

Please, note that kids under 8 years old are not able to stay at Garden Lane Backpackers by Irish Regulations.

How do I cancel or modify my reservation?

Cancellation terms vary depending on the booking dates and group agreement. Please refer to your booking confirmation and Terms & Conditions for full details.

Yes, changes can be made subject to availability and the terms of your booking. Reductions in group size are subject to the agreed cancellation and amendment terms if made within the cancellation period.

What qualifies as a group booking?

We welcome groups of small and medium sizes. However, groups of 4 guests or more who book at least one room for private use can benefit from additional group perks and special rates.

How far in advance should I book? Can you accommodate last-minute group bookings?

We recommend booking as early as possible, especially during peak season, to ensure availability and secure the best rates. For groups travelling during peak season, we recommend booking at least 6 months in advance.

If we have availability for your requested dates, we will be happy to accommodate your group.

Do you accept school groups?

Yes, we welcome school, college and university groups.

Rates & Payments

What is included in the group rate?

Your quotation will inform all included services and we are always happy to discuss any additional requests you may have. For groups booking directly through groups@canbe.ie, bed linen, towels and breakfast are always included.

Do we need to pay any deposit? What is it?

Yes, €30 security deposit per person must be paid upon arrival and it must be paid by card in one transaction. This deposit is only to guarantee that all the house rules will be followed.

If no issues happened during your stay, you deposit will be refunded in full once you check out. It can take up to 10 days for the money be issued in your account depending on your bank.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept bank transfers and major credit and debit cards.

Can you provide an invoice?

Yes, invoices can be provided upon request.

Accommodation & Rooms Features

Will our group stay together?

We always do our best to accommodate groups as close together as possible. If you would like all guests to stay in the same room, please let us know when making your request. We will confirm whether this is possible in your quotation. We can also try to place groups on the same floor whenever possible, although all requests are subject to availability.

Can group leaders or teachers have private rooms?

Yes. Upon request, we can arrange private room for group leaders, teachers or drivers. While we don’t have single rooms, we can book twin-room for single occupancy if required. Note that it’s limited availability.

Do you offer female-only dormitories?

Yes, subject to availability.

Are bed linen and towels provided?

Yes. Bed linen and towels are included as a complimentary service for groups that book directly with us.

Are all rooms equipped with bunk beds?

Yes, all the rooms are equipped with bunk beds. Although dormitories are shared spaces, we pride ourselves on providing a comfortable and private experience. Our bunk beds are designed with privacy in mind and include individual reading lights, power outlets and privacy curtains.

Will I have to share a bathroom?

Yes. We do not have en-suite rooms, but several bathrooms are conveniently located on each floor of the hostel.

What room types do you have available?

We can accommodate groups in the following room types:

  • Twin room (one bunk)

  • 4-Bed Dormitories

  • 6-Bed Dormitories

  • 8-Bed Dormitories

When requesting a quotation, please let us know if you have any room preferences. We will always take your requirements into consideration and do our best to accommodate them, subject to availability.

Facilities & Services

Is breakfast available? What is it?

Enjoy a complimentary light continental breakfast daily from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM. The buffet includes breads, cereals, jams, butter, fruit and beverage — view the breakfast menu here. Items may vary depending on availability.

Please note that as this is a complimentary breakfast, we do not offer special dietary options.

Guests are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare their own meals if preferred (please remember to wash your dishes after use). Alternatively, guests can enjoy a full breakfast with a discount at our partner restaurants.

Do you offer additional meal options?

Yes. We can provide sandwiches, packed lunches and hot meals for an additional charge.

Meal orders must be placed at least one month before arrival. We can accommodate many dietary requirements with advance notice.

A minimum order is required.

 Is parking available?

Yes. Parking is limited and available for extra charge, subject to availability.

Parking must be requested when confirming your booking.

Please note that our parking facilities can’t  accommodate coaches or large buses, although vans can be accommodated.

Do you have meeting or common spaces for groups?

We do not have a dedicated meeting room. But we do offer a TV room, dining area and a balcony where groups can gather and socialise.

Is Wi-Fi included?

Yes. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the hostel.

Is the hostel accessible for guests with reduced mobility?

Accessibility features vary. Please contact us directly to discuss your group’s specific requirements and we will be happy to advise on the most suitable option.

Can I borrow hairdryers, irons or buy travel adaptors at the hostel?

Yes, you can borrow hairdryers and irons free of charge from reception at working hours by leaving a valid ID as a deposit. We also sell travel adaptors suitable for Irish sockets to help keep your devices powered during your stay.

Additionally, you’ll find padlocks, toiletries, earplugs and other essential travel accessories available for purchase at reception, ensuring you have everything you need without having to bring it all with you.

Is there a smoking or vaping area?

Yes, there’s a designated smoking area (balcony on the 3rd floor). Smoking or vaping inside the building is strictly prohibited and subject to a €250 fine.

Is there a kitchen and laundry facility available?

Yes, Garden Lane Backpackers has a spacious, fully equipped kitchen for guest use, open daily except during cleaning times. The laundry room with washing and drying tokens sold at reception alongside washing tablets.

Do you offer luggage storage? Are there lockers for guests?

We don’t offer a dedicated luggage storage room, but every bed has an individual locker for your valuables. You’ll need a padlock to use it — if you don’t have one, you can purchase one at reception.

Location & Directions

How do I get to Garden Lane Backpackers? Is there an airport bus stop nearby?

Garden Lane Backpackers is approximately 45 minutes by bus from Dublin Airport.  Search on Google Maps for “D08 VY00” upon airport arrival.

It’s served by the Dublin Express 782 which drops you at Usher’s Quay (stop 1445) or Merchant’s Quay (stop 1444), 10-minute walk from the hostel. Tickets cost from €10 one-way, book it online or drop a line to gardenlane@canbe.ie and we’ll help you book it.

Alternatively, you can take Dublin Bus (public transport) by catching bus N. 16 or N. 41 from Dublin Airport. Get off at Dublin City Centre, then transfer to bus N. 13, 73, G1, or G2, which will drop you just a 5-minute walk from the hostel. Dublin bus fare is around €2.60 payable in coins or ticket (Leap Card). The hostel is located a 15-minute walk from the Temple Bar area.

Yes, absolutely. You can book a wide range of tours, attractions, and activities directly with us, making it easy to plan your stay and explore Dublin and Ireland.

We offer options such as pub crawls, walking tours, Irish day tours, airport transfers, and entry tickets to popular attractions. You can browse and book everything online through our dedicated booking links or simply drop us a message and our team will be happy to help you choose the best options.

If you prefer, you can also arrange and book tours directly at reception during your stay.
